For Jim Krantz photography has been a way of life. His work brings to life the strength and energy of his subjects. His range and versatility are his forte, working with ease in demanding and ever-changing conditions. Jim has devoted much of his career to photographing the American West, capturing some of the most iconic images on the subject. It is his eye for the extraordinary in the ordinary that has earned him a successful career as a sought after commercial artist, working both nationally and internationally.

Krantz’ distinct way of visualizing has been honored by The American Photo Awards, The Art Director’s Club, Communication Arts, and in 2010 The Lucie Award’s highest honor – the IPA Photographer of the Year. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Wallpaper*, Italian Vogue, German GQ, V Magazine and more. His clients include Allstate, Samsung, McDonalds, Red Bull, to name a few.

Jim has recently embarked on collaborations within the world of design, from furniture to textiles and fashion, JimKrantzProjects.com. “It lets me step out of seeing things one way,” Jim says. “There is the same energy and intent behind what I’m doing, but it doesn’t have to be restricted to just one thing.”

When he’s not in production for his clients, Jim can be spotted on his ’91 Harley, camera in tow, exploring and artfully capturing the people and places he encounters.
